Full Version: Zip drive has PMView icon

Strange.... I've had this problem for a while but since it's cosmetic I've never bothered to report it. My Zip drive, instead of having a blue Zip drive icon in Windows, has a PMView Mona Lisa icon.

This has been the case for every version of PMView I've used for Windows, and every version of Windows I've used it on (95, 98, 98SE and 2K).

Any suggestion for how I might get PMView to stop taking over my drive icon for the Zip drive?

This is a Windows' feature. The icon displayed represents the application that will be launched when you double-click on the file. You can get rid of the PMView icon by reinstalling PMView and deselect all the file formats to be associated with PMView. However, please note that deassociating PMView with the formats means that double-clicking on a file will no longer launch PMView...

There is also of course the all too common Windows NT 4.0 bug. Every now and then NT decides to scramble the icons on the desktop...

IMHO the operating system called Windows has its own life... Try to reboot. After a few reboots it may possibly look right. At least that's how well Windows works over here

Oddly enough, if you search the Microsoft Knowledge Base, you'll find this:
