I downloaded the new version 2.32 to upgrade from version 2.20. When I try to run the executable file, I immediately get a SYS3175 error. Is this a problem with the file?

Thanks
Peter
This problem is caused by the LxLite 1.2.1 software used by PMView's installer to shrink pmview.exe from 4.5M to 2.2M and increase the loading speed. Unfortunately LxLite 1.2.1 does not work correctly on some systems and as a result creates a corrupt pmview.exe.

To solve this problem, edit the PMVIEW.PKG file. (This is one of the installation files). Remove the following lines:

*---------------------------------------------------------------------
* Execute lxlite.exe
* /YUR always replace /B- no backup /C- no color /I- use normal priority /L- no logging
*---------------------------------------------------------------------
FILE
EXITWHEN = 'INSTALL | | UPDATE | | RESTORE',
EXITIGNOREERR = 'YES',
EXIT = 'EXEC FG TW %EPFIFILEDIR%//lxlite.exe /YUR /B- /C- /I- /L- %EPFIFILEDIR%//pmview.exe'

Then run the installation again. Now PMView will not be LxLite:d and the problem you were experiencing should be gone.

To get the increased loading speed, you can download LxLite 1.3.2 from http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/archiver/lxlt132.zip. This newer version of LxLite will probably work better and lets you compress pmview.exe without corrupting it.

The problem is with the executable file downloaded , pmview2000v232os2.exe. This will not run on my primary partition to extract the files needed for installation. I moved it to an older installation, and it extracts the files. I will have to copy this to my main partition to do the install.

Thank you for your information.

OK. I managed to move the unpacked files to my main partition and it installed nicely with no modofocation. I still do not know why the original file would not unpack.

Thank you
Peter
Hmm... Interesting. I just heard back from a beta tester that reported the same problem. Seems like the self-extracting archive also has some problem. (Is any packer working on OS/2? They all seem to have problems!)

I should probably provide the next version in two formats; .EXE and .ZIP.
