This problem is caused by the LxLite 1.2.1 software used by PMView's installer to shrink pmview.exe from 4.5M to 2.2M and increase the loading speed. Unfortunately LxLite 1.2.1 does not work correctly on some systems and as a result creates a corrupt pmview.exe.
To solve this problem, edit the PMVIEW.PKG file. (This is one of the installation files). Remove the following lines:
*---------------------------------------------------------------------
* Execute lxlite.exe
* /YUR always replace /B- no backup /C- no color /I- use normal priority /L- no logging
*---------------------------------------------------------------------
FILE
EXITWHEN = 'INSTALL | | UPDATE | | RESTORE',
EXITIGNOREERR = 'YES',
EXIT = 'EXEC FG TW %EPFIFILEDIR%//lxlite.exe /YUR /B- /C- /I- /L- %EPFIFILEDIR%//pmview.exe'
Then run the installation again. Now PMView will not be LxLite:d and the problem you were experiencing should be gone.
To get the increased loading speed, you can download LxLite 1.3.2 from
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/archiver/lxlt132.zip. This newer version of LxLite will probably work better and lets you compress pmview.exe without corrupting it.
