Within 4-6 weeks. The beta testers are trying to find the last bugs right now.

The major change in v3.10 is that it is build with completely new compilers. Previous PMView versions were all compiled with the now outdated IBM VisualAge C++ compiler from 1997.

The Windows version will use the latest Microsoft VC++ v7.1 (2003) compiler. As a result, the size of PMView and its DLLs will shrink from the current 6700kB to a mere 920kb -- 7 times smaller.

The OS/2 version will use the latest Innotek GNU C++ compiler available (currently beta 4). No major reductions in size here, but the new compiler does optimize better for Pentium II and newer processors.

Peter, are you still including a fix for my problem in the thread "refuses to load image at 100%" found in the windows forum?

That was adding back the loading options that were taken out of Pro.

I have been eagerly awaiting v3.10 for this very reason.

v3.10 has a new option:

"Zoom to Fit" enlarges window to fit screen

This option can be unchecked to get back the old non-standard behavior of PMView 2000.

Still waiting for Innotek to release Beta #5 of their compiler...

Is 3.10 held up for a while?
I've been checking a couple of times a week.
I'm looking forward to retiring PMView 232 and moving entirely to Pro now that you have addressed this issue.

Any news about PMView Pro 3.10 ?
Last note about expected release date was in June.

What new stuff will be available with it ?

Will it be able to refresh the EXIF preview to reflect image modifications ?

NLS versions are ready. Right now I'm waiting for the official release of the new WarpIN (OS/2 installer) version that finally solves the installation crash on Warp 3. It will probably be another week or two...

Bummer.

Same thing happened to me when I was a programming student. I didn't have a backup at the time. I DID, however have printouts of large volumes of code because I used to like to lay down in the livingroom and look for errors from printouts. It was not fun having to re-type thousands of lines of code.

After that I installed a backup drive.

How are you making out?

No problems. Everything is restored, no PMView data lost. It took a while to rebuild the computer even though I had backups of everything. (I keep the english version of PMView mirrored on a second computer, so the chance of losing any critical PMView data is minimal).

v3.10 will be released within two weeks!

That's great news!

In case you are interested -
There is an inexpensive disk morroring system called Duplidisk that I installed for my boss. If a HD fails, the system continues like nothing ever happened and informs you that a disk needs replacing.
Pop a new one in and it brings the new one right up to date. Works great.

Using their RaidCase or EasyRaid, you just slide the failed drive out of the front of your case and slide a new one in and you have zero down time and your apps never skip a beat.
