I didn't use PMView for quite a time. After the recent update to 3.74 I wanted to have a look at and encountered the problem that the file-open-dialog is very slow and hangs the program. Any hint would be very appreciated.

What version did you update from? There was a major bug fix in v3.68 that solved a serious multithreading issue present ever since PMView v3.00. It is possible that this may cause issues on some systems with drivers that are not properly multithreaded, but it has not yet been confirmed.
Please e-mail me (peter@pmview.com) and I will send you links to download v3.67 and v3.68 so that we can see if it's the bugfix that is causing the issue. If this is the case, I will try to solve it, or at least provide a setting to disable the fix. If not, I'll have to send you older versions until we find what version it is that causes the slowdown. This is the bug fix in v3.68 that possibly could cause hardware/driver specfic problems, although not yet confirmed by anyone: QUOTE PMView crashes for no apparent reason on SMP/MultiCore hardware. The crashes are spontaneous and the problem is not easily repeatable. The cause of the problem is that one of the underlying IBM Open Class pointer templates is not thread safe. In this version thread safety has been added to the template class, and the longstanding issue with spontaneous crashes is now resolved.
