If the icon contains a black color as in (RGB) 255,255,255. Then per default PMview chooses that color as the background for your gif. Resulting in a black colour.
A workaround is to open up the colour palette after opening the .ICO. Here you will most likely find that there are two colours with the same RGB values. When saving in PMview one of these gets erased as it's 'not needed'. Hence the background color ID changes to the black from the image. If you just change the ID you'll endup seeing the image but all black will be transparent. Which is not what you want either. So you'll have to make sure that the ammount of colours is preserved when saving the file (in any format). This you can do by shifting the "transparency colour" to something like 252,252,252, so that PMview does not reduce the palette when saving. The you can select the correct ID when saving the file as GIF. Save as >> Options >> transparency & background color... Hope this helps, took me some time to figure it out. It work for small quantities but it's a pain otherwise. Djerk Geurts |
