Full Version: Windows 2003 - Install works, PMView 3.10 fails.
PMView Pro Forums > PMView Pro Discussion > PMView - Windows Technical Support
As described.
A nominal install of 3.10 over 3.05a.
Then, double-clicking on PMView icon gets you a 'Failed to initiate' message.
Tsk Tsk Tsk.
This is possibly a problem with the WISE installer and the way it works. Right click on the PMView icon and select "properties". Check that the target is "PMView.exe". If it is UNWISE.EXE, then change it to point to the pmview exectuable instead (for instance "C:Program FilesPMViewPMView.exe")

If this is NOT the case, then e-mail me at and I will look into the problem.

"C:Program FilesPMViewPMView.exe" was the location the icon was pointing at. Email sent as requested.
I can confirm that this problem indeed occurs on Windows SERVER 2003.

The problem is with the packer that was used to pack PMVIEW.EXE

The end-user can easily solve the problem himself by downloading UPX version 1.25w from

All that needs to be done is to unpack the PMView executable. This is done by doing "upx -d pmview.exe" in the PMView directory. This will solve the problem.
