> Printer Change sees Crashes in PMView - Adding new/retiring old printers

I recently purchased a new printer because the old one was starting to seriously malfunction.

I changed the old printer to use the IBMNULL printer driver.

I installed the new printer to use the LPT1 port.

When opening a file in PMView and asking it to print, it crashes. No other explanations are given. It just goes away.

I altered my original printer to use the normal print driver, but then altered the port selection page of the dialog to "print to file". This should keep it from accessing the LPT1 port, where that printer no longer resides.

This allowed PMView to display the print dialog box (something it was failing to do). And I could then select the new printer and continue.

I thought others might want to be aware of this in case they run into the same problem.

And perhaps Peter can look at what the problem might be in PMView.

Peter: I have the popuplog.os2 data, and the /log=pmview.log files available if you wish for me to send them to you.

Sincerely,
Mark Vollmer

What PMView version are you using? Make sure that you have v3.05 as it fixes several printer issues.

Here's a quote from the PMView v3.04 bug fix section:
QUOTE
Printing: PMView will crash when trying to print. This happens if you have installed the IBMNULL printer driver or a driver that does not comply with the "name.driver" naming convention. (This bug was new for v3.03 and was caused by an implementation error in the v3.03 enhancements).
Here's a quote from the PMView v3.03 bug fix section:
QUOTE
Printing: If none of the printer drivers installed is marked as the default
printer driver, PMView will crash when trying to print.

Thanks,
