I previously installed PMView2000 then recently installed Paint Shop Pro 7. Now, most of my graphic files are associated with Paint Shop Pro. How do I re-associate the default file types back to PMView?

Why not simply reinstall PMView? This method works great for almost every program.
During the setup process of PMView all fileformats get associated again.

Correct. Reinstall PMView. PMView will remember all your settings and all you need to do is to keep pressing the [Next] button throughout the installation

Note that all you need to do is to reinstall. Don't uninstall, because this will remove all PMView traces from the system including all your personalized PMView settings.

Thanks guys! My main concern was that I was going to lose my settings. Now that I know that reinstalling won't reset my settings, I'll do that now.

Greetings:

In response to this problem, I've written a VERY small program (16k) that restores all associations to PMView. I've only tested it with NT 4.0. I'd be interested to see if it worked under 9x/2000/XP.

IE users can "Run Program From This Location" while Opera and Netscape/Mozilla users will have to save the file somewhere (your desktop is a good place) and then run it.

It's a free program which requires NO install or support DLLs. One note, though. You MUST have PMView installed before running the program, or it will mess up current file associations.

Greetings:
Once again, in response to this problem, I've updated a VERY small program (21k) that selectively restores all associations to PMView. I've only tested it with XP, but I'm sure it works under 9x/2000/NT.

FWIW, PMView v3.12 automatically detects if an association is missing and will ask the user if he wants the association restored or removed.

Thanks,

Thanks for the program wink.gif It works like a charm under XP Pro and fixed all the associations after I installed Nero Update 7.11.10.0.
