PMView Pro Forums _ PMView - General Discussion _ Screen Capture With High Resolution

Posted by: farmkid Dec 15 2017, 10:53 PM

I recently moved to a newer laptop for which the recommended resolution is 1920x1080, and have installed 3.80. I'm now experiencing problems when capturing part or all of the screen:

1) When capturing an area of the screen or a window, I get an image of a different but overlapping screen area.

2) If I capture the entire screen, the image is 1536 x 864, truncating the screen on the right and bottom.

My environment is 64-bit Windows 10 Pro with an NVIDIA Quadro 1000M display adapter.

Thanks for your help!

Make sure the Windows Display Settings are set to scale 100%. If the display scaling is not set to 100%, then the problem you describe will show. PMView currently only supports capture of Windows Screens without scaling (i.e. 100%).

Thanks,
Peter

Any chance of that changing in the future?

Yes. I really consider this a "bug" that needs to be fixed. However, in reality it's a "missing feature" because it's not an easy fix. Making this work right requires adding code for handling the scaling correctly.

This and adding support for the webp format is on top oof the "todo" list.

Thanks,

Peter

I have fixed the problem. PMView v3.82 will work correctly.

Have you tested v3.82 screen shots on UHD displays (3840x2160)? I can get it to work at 100% scaling, but PMView clips the image if it is scaled to 150%. I need a magnifying glass to see the PMView controls at 100% scaling on such a monitor. :-)

Never mind. I just found your post on how to cure the problem with Compatibility settings. Thanks!
