Hi Peter and all in the forum. I'm a very happy steady user of PM-Viewlatest version 2.32 on my eCS system
However, I notice that after I finish with the last graphic file, closing PM-View doesn't actually remove it from memory. I use Watch Cat to kill stuck processes - usually Netscape. and that's how I saw it there. I have also recently noticed that PM-View sometimes even prevents my system from shutting down.
Hope this is clear enough to identify a cause and see about a fix. I don't mind it staying in memory, if that helsp speed up later uses of teh program, but I hope it can be politely told to shut down by the system, rather than having me rudely shout at it via Watch Cat. ::
Best regards

Hi John,
This is a well-known problem caused by NewView. Deinstall NewView and everything should work fine. (I beleive that the latest version of NewView available should solve the problem, but I haven't verified it).
Thanks,
Thanks for the clear info, Peter.
I take it that PMView's help thread get's stuck because of NewView's own last thread problem?
I must tackle Aaron at NewView.
No, it's because the IBM Open Class library mistakes one of the windows created by Newview for being a Primary Window due to its parent/owner configuration. OCL does not exit its message processing loop until all primary windows are closed.
Thanks,
