I finally made the jump from XP to Windows 7 64-bit.
I installed PMView 3.64 64-bit and everything works fine, except I cannot acquire from my Canon 8400F scanner, which also has new 64-bit drivers.
Neither the Select Source nor the Acquire menu choices do anything when I click on them. I confirmed that TWAIN_32.dll is in the Windows directory.
Other programs, such as the Canon Toolbox, Pixwizard, and Photoshop Elements, use the twain driver with no problem, so I don't understand why PMView, doesn't. I use PMView constantly, so it's a little inconvenient to have to use a different program to scan.
I've found an answer to my problem by searching the web. It seems that 64-bit applications cannot use 32-bit twain drivers and virtually all twain drivers are 32-bit, even if the actual scanner drivers are 64-bit.
I guess I'll have to wait for Canon to release 64-bit twain drivers. I won't hold my breath. In the meantime I'll have to make do.
Everything runs noticeably faster on a 64-bit system and I'll never go back to 32-bits.
