PMView Pro Forums _ PMView - OS/2 Technical Support _ Foc Rename And <enter>/<tab> Handling

Posted by: asavage Sep 13 2007, 10:19 PM

Not a new issue, but . . .

When renaming a file in FOC (RMB on thumbnail, wipe out ENTIRE filename and type new), if you press <Enter>, a line break is formed. Several line breaks can be entered this way for the same filename. One cannot seem to complete the rename without using the mouse to click outside the textbox.

Additionally, if the <Tab> key is pressed, it is accepted as valid input and the textbox does show a tab.

When reviewing the renamed file at the command line, <Tab> is converted to '!' and <Enter> is converted to "!!".

Yet another note: one cannot repeat this behaviour by editing the existing filename; only by first deleting the existing filename are <Enter> and <Tab> keys accepted.

All of this is at variance with the Win version. Is is WAD?

I feel compelled to say something.

This forum software's re-capitalizing of the Subject is annoying, as it changes what I typed into something I didn't. Couldn't it leave well enough alone?

Al,

Compare this to what a WPS folder does. PMView mimics the behavior of OS/2 Warp Work Place Shell folders, and I don't think it has changed much in recent OS/2 versions.

YES, OS/2 allows line breaks in file names.

I've spent countless days and nights to have the OS/2 version mimic the behavior of Warp 3 and Warp 4 native folders, as that is the behavior that most OS/2 users excpect to see.

Thanks,
Peter
