After working fine for quite a while, this morning I can no longer print in PM View. I get a popup window that says', "unable to retrieve printer information"

Stop PMView and start regedit. Then delete the PMView "Print" entry and all its subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Nielsen Software/PMView/2.0/Print

Does this help?

Peter,

Thank you. Deleting that key solved the printing problem. After the key was deleted, I went back restarted PM View and was able to print just like before.

Thanks for letting me know that this solved the problem. smile.gif

The next version will do this automatically. If PMView gets to the point that it cannot retrieve the printer information, it will reset the printer info (only the info stored in PMView's own registry, of course) and try again without it. This is the way it should be done and is arguably a bug in the current version (2.32) since it fails to reset to the default info if a problem appears.

Thanks,

You're welcome. I've been using PM View since it's OS/2 days and am a very happy user. Thanks for all you efforts.

I had the same problem that Vic had. However, it was only after I added a new printer. I saw the other two printers I've used to print before in the registry. I deleted the Print keys and all of its subfolders as suggested but that did not help. I even uninstalled and reinstalled and that didn't help. In fact the Print key is not visible after I reinstalled PMView. Any suggestions???

If you have PMView Pro, then right-click on the "Setup" button in the print dialog and select "Reset" from the popup menu.

I'm running 2.32. I got it working again. I uninstalled PMView. I had about 20 printers installed and I just simply deleted them all but my default. I then installed PMView again and the printer worked. The PRINT keys are showing up in the registry now. Thanks for the quick response. Your support is awesome. I've been a long time registered user.

I'm glad to hear that you got the problem solved. If one of the installed printer drivers is not returning the expected values, PMView 2000 v2.32 does not handle the situation well and you may end up in the situation you just described (just an error message and no print dialog). The best solution is to do exactly what you did, and delete all drivers.

FWIW, PMView Pro behaves better in this situation thanks to a few improvements in this area.

Thanks,
