PMView Pro Forums _ PMView - General Discussion _ Moving a file

Posted by: Mike Prager Oct 9 2000, 04:19 AM

Two related suggestions for enhancement to the (Windows version) of PMView 2000.

A file can be moved by drag-and-drop of the thumbnail from the File Open dialog. However, the left panel (list of folders)doesn't scroll if the cursor (with dragged file) is moved to top or bottom. Suggestion #1: It should scroll and closed folders should open to display the subdirectory structure if a the mouse hovers over them.

If the desired folder is offscreen on the left, how to cancel the move? If the file is moved back to the original spot, an annoying dialog box appears, requiring confirmation ("Cannot move..."). Suggestion #2: Let this fail silently, either always or at the user's option.

Thanks for considering these. It's great to have PMView available on Windows -- I missed it for a long time after leaving OS/2.

Thanks for pointing out that the list box doesn't auto-scroll when dragging. This really needs to be implelmented because this is how the Windows Explorer works.

A move can easily be cancelled by pressing ESC, but you're right in that there should not be an error message when dropping back the files in the source folder. I need to look into this.
